From Education to Employment
Nearly 50% of India’s fisheries and marine science graduates are women, yet only a small proportion enter field-based aquaculture careers. Our recent interactions found that 80% of women graduates are interested in field roles.
The challenge is not a lack of talent or capability, but the gap between classroom learning and practical field experience. Aqua Saathi is working to bridge this gap through hands-on training, farm exposure, mentorship, and industry linkages.
Creating stronger pathways from education to employment can help more women build careers in field operations, technical roles, management, and leadership.

Small-scale shrimp farmers are at the heart of the aquaculture value chain. At the Global Shrimp Forum 2026 in Utrecht, Aqua Saathi brought the realities of Indian small-scale farmers into a global conversation on inclusive supply chains.
